{"id":1099,"date":"2011-08-19T22:38:28","date_gmt":"2011-08-20T06:38:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iwasmisinformed.com\/?p=1099"},"modified":"2011-08-19T22:38:46","modified_gmt":"2011-08-20T06:38:46","slug":"we-live-in-the-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iwasmisinformed.com\/?p=1099","title":{"rendered":"We Live In The Future"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just thought I would throw in a couple of links here to the mid-90s AT&amp;T campaign tagged &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/You_Will\">You Will.<\/a>&#8221; They predicted a whole bunch of stuff &#8211; WWAN, EZ-Pass, GPS, video on demand, videoconferencing, and so on and so forth &#8211; real heady stuff in an era where most people had no idea what the Internet was about.<\/p>\n<p>Thing is, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/gizmodo.com\/5362625\/remember-the-att-ads-about-the-future-you-will\">it pretty much all came true.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>I mean, I have my iPhone which does all sorts of insane stuff. \u00a0I have my Kindle where I get my magazines, I have the EZ-Pass on my car for the tolls, I&#8217;ve remotely controlled other people&#8217;s desktops from 2500 miles away (something I first contemplated in 1997 when wondering if I could telecommute for tech support with the notional NeXTSTEP Mac OS), I&#8217;ve done video chat cross-country, and I actually have sent a fax (well, an email) from the beach, more than once. \u00a0And video on demand is the only way we see movies these days.<\/p>\n<p>We really do live in the future.
